Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0pre) Gecko/20110329 Thunderbird/3.3a4pre When you receive a message (1) with an attached message (2) that also has attachments (3): Message (1)'s attachment pane shows both attached message (2) and message (2)'s attachments (3). However when opening message (1) I would only expect to see its DIRECT attachmens (2); I don't expect/want to see nested attachments (3). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: a) Receive a message (1) that has a message (2) attached. b) The attached message (2) also has attachments (3). c) When you open message (1), message (1)'s attachment pane doesn't only show the d) attached message (2) but also message (2)'s attachments (3). Expected Results: The attachment pane should only show a message's DIRECT attachments: When you open message (1), its attachment pane should only show attached message (2). When you open attached message (2), its attachment pane should show attachments (3).
Ideally, Thunderbird would show the attachments in a tree to reflect the correct attachment hierarchy...

That's a bug, of course, but our handling of attachments is so bad that you're lucky to even have a way to access the nested attachments... see bug 715845 for another related, gory story.

Jim, you may have another bug to dupe this one to.

(In reply to Jonathan Protzenko [:protz] from comment #4) > Jim, you may have another bug to dupe this one to. I think this is unique. Assuming we want to do this (bwinton: do we?), it's pretty easy, though.
