I have recently begun using Thunderbird as a potential alternative to Outlook. I have the Lightning add-on. The problem is that Tasks that have been entered as recurring (not matter the recurrence interval) do not regenerate. Once I check them off as completed they never show in the Tasks pane again. Or they show in All Tasks, but as completed. I rely heavily on Tasks in Outlook and would like to know that Thunderbird/Lightning can handle this. I set up the repeater to start today and to end in 10 years, with a daily repeat. I've also tried many other day/repeating options. Clicking the completed checkbox today caused all future repetitions to marked as completed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up a recurring task.
2. Go to task window.
3. Mark the task complete.
4. Go to All Tasks - all future instances are marked complete.
Actual Results:
All repetitions of the future tasks are completed. Basically, setting up a recurring task does not work at all.

Expected Results:
If the task "water plants" was to be done every 3 days, and was to happen today, the person should be able to check the task "complete". The task window should immediately show a new "water plants" due in three days.

From my searching, I'm not the only one that wishes the Thunderbird / Lightning tasks worked exactly like Outlook tasks.

We just closed a bug with a very similar title ;-)

What version are you using? Could you retest in the latest nightly builds? (Lightning 1.0b4pre with Thunderbird 3.3a*) we have greatly improved task handling so this bug may be fixed there.
Bug 373775 to be specific.
I just downloaded Thunderbird yesterday. I was using Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1.9 - I just installed Miramar Alpha 3, but it won't let me install any Lightning with it - it says they're all incompatible.
The latest Lightning test builds for Thunderbird 3.1.x can be found at <https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/lightning/nightly/latest-comm-1.9.2/>
The nightly build fixes it. Thanks :)
