When using a search engine according to steps below, it impossible to go back to the search.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a new blank tab (cannot be populated--must be blank)
2. Use the search box (tested with Google) in the navigation bar to search for something.
3. Google's page with search results appears.
4. Click on any link.
Actual Results:  
Back button greyed out. Backspace key does not work. Back button on mouse does not work

Expected Results:  
When clicking on a link and the page changes, one ought to be able to back up.

Try Firefox's safe mode or a new profile. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic%20troubleshooting#w_4-restart-firefox-in-safe-mode

One potential cause of this issue is McAfee Site Advisor.

If you do have that extension, and disabling it solves this issue, then this
bug is a duplicate of bug 638657.
Disabling the Site Advisor did indeed solve it.  I assume you will fix this.

No, McAfee has to fix this. Apparently, they're already working on a fix.
