Currently we're forced to have the share icon in the Awesome Bar which runs contrary to some of the UX goals for Firefox 4 which was to remove clutter in this area. We should certainly provide maximum flexibility with our approach for this.

For the first release we're going to remain in the URL bar and in a future release we can come back to this question.

I don't get this. The UX Team make a huge deal about removing clutter from the address bar and limiting the amount of objects on the right side of the address bar (see the convo on removing the RSS button) and then we go ahead and create this as a plan for integration to the browser.

The worst thing is, I can't think of a more alien place to put it and to do so without any option of customisation makes even less sense. It's one of the few items on the browser that users can't customise.

F1 and the bookmarks star icon are not re/movable.  Send me an email if you have ideas for alternate locations.  Thanks.

F1 is remaining an addon for the foreseeable future, closing this as a wontfix
