I can not move any bookmark in bookmark manager if any of the sort criteria is selected. Moving a book mark is only possible in "unsorted" view.

Adding 4xp keyword, since your able to do this in Netscape 4.x Triaging the Most doomed (which Happens to Ben right now :)

ksosez: are you sure this is 4xp? Netscape 4 lets me drag *out* of the bookmarks window when bookmarks are sorted, but doesn't let me rearrange the bookmarks. This seems to be a request to be able to rearrange bookmarks even when each folder is sorted. Should the user get a "no-drop" cursor when dragging over the current folder to indicate that nothing will happen if the bookmark is dropped there? Cc mpt.

Yes Jesse, it should be that way. It is that way in other applications, and in MailNews.

However it would be handy if such a feature exists. It is inconvenient to -unsort the bookmarks first -Rearrange them -Then sort them again.

Even with the bookmark list unsorted, I can't drag and drop bookmark folders in imported bookmarks, either within an imported group or between groups.

Shouldn't you always be able to drag and drop bookmarks into different folders?

Paul Chen is now taking Bookmarks bugs. For your convenience, you can filter email notifications caused by this by searching for 'ilikegoats'.

I can't even drag bookmarks around in the Manage Bookmarks window _at_ _all_. Started by copying IE bookmarks to the Personal Bookmarks Folder. There also isn't any sort controls in the "view" menu :-( I'm using Win98, mozilla 0.9.7. It all works correctly under 0.9.7 on Debian (sid). WTF?

One approach to implementing this would be to make "Sort By" a pulldown in the Properties of a bookmark folder. That would allow you to mark folders as sorted, and the sort order would be preserved as new items are added (as opposed to a one-time "sort now").

I've been UNABLE to locate the previous reports/comments on this whopper so I simply don't know whether it is possible to: Edit the bookmark list through NetScape 7x? Edit with a text ed? Any suggestions? I lost about three hours' work and many new/revised links not knowing about this one. (please send any quick-work-around to webmaster@razler.net dmr
