Help -> About Firefox Firefox says I am at version 3.6.15. I also see the Help menu option Help ->Apply Downloaded Update Now .... But when I try to apply the update, the resulting popup window says it wants to update to Firefox 3.6.10. Needless to say, the update doesn't work. And I can't make the "Apply Downloaded... menu go away. Is there any way to 'clear' the update so I can properly auto-update to 4.0?

Ian, take a look at this support ticket: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/762619 I think that solution will solve your problem as well.

Yes, that did the trick. Seemed some weird situation where one account thought I had the old update, while admin was 'clear' and could update straight to 4.0, and fix things up for all profiles.

I don't know that a workaround counts as a resolved defect ;-) I would say this is still a bug, but that it has a low priority for repair. I have set importance to minor.

Resolving as RESOLVED / WORKSFORME as the workaround worked and as no one else has had this happen in the last 10 years....
