Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Since upgrading to FF4 both Firefox & Google Chrome (!?) are failing to handle PHP. The site is fine in Safari. Unfortunately the PHP site in question is on a private VPN. I'm hoping that it's a simple corruption issue of some local file or another that is somehow, seemingly, shared with Chrome. Specifically, on this PHP based site, inline address urls are randomly not painting at all - that's random in that some do and most don't. Submit and commit buttons do not work at all. The site in question has not undergone functional changes in the better part of three years (i.e. apache,php,perl engines).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. I will try to find an appropriate public PHP site that mimics this behaviour and update appropriately.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
The web page, that interacts with, updates and controls a central database for server applications has been rendered ineffectual and all but useless.
Expected Results:
I expect address links to paint and submit buttons to submit form data - no longer functioning on both counts.
Uhm.. not break PHP site? Perhaps a file list of what could possibly affect PHP sites? Not sure.

The language which is used on a website, has nothing to do with the browser. That sees only (generated) HTML. This means that there are probably errors in HTML.
If Chrome sees the same error (maybe because they both have a HTML5 parser, but so does Safari), then it's definitely not a bug in
Firefox.

Hi, Yes, only FF and Chrome seem to be affected - Safari *does* work.
The html/php rendering of same has not changed.
I'm not sure, like you, I'd say it was a bug in FF per se but the coincidence with upgrading to 4 would make me think part of the upgrade process resulted in some collateral damage.. somehow. I'm about to roll back to FF3 to test.
Me thinks the resolved::invalid mark indicates no fault due to upgrade and an upgrade path is a part of the browser and would be a bug if proven no?

Confirmed rollback to FF3 fixed all PHP/html rendering issues.

html5 is highly probably at fault - resetting to resolved:invalid as my Safari is quite old.
Thanks

Possibly. Note that Safari and Chrome share a large part of code too, since they're both based on WebKit.

I tried to find a dupe bug but this is essentially the problem. html5 or not something is broken and I've been pouring over the html and there are no form error/misconfig issues that I can see.
snippets;
# BEGIN form test here
if (isset($_POST['commit'])) {
do_commitaddconsole();
print '<center><hr><input type="button" value="ok" name="ok" onclick="parent.parent.GB_hide();"></center>';

Please provide a URL of a website where this is happening. It has NOTHING to do with the PHP code that drives the webserver itself. It's not even complete.

What I was trying to relay was that perhaps if one were to draw up a simple form, similar to the one I've been trying to poke through here that I provided and snipped for you, and to throw it up on a page then one could see. I provided the code snippet because I assumed that it was not difficult to extract an applicable HTML form from the PHP I provided. I know it has NOTHING to do with the PHP, it has EVERYTHING to do with the form.
The link provided seemed to have/provide some way of showing duplication of a rather similar report that is being experienced by more folks than me on my internal web page.
again, the code was not meant to be complete, is was meant to show the dressing of a form that fails to do ANYTHING in firefox 4 save reload itself.

Form post method where type = image no long posts "submit". only image coordinates in submit.[x|y] (submit_[x|y] for PHP $_POST). Rewrite script tests from [ if post submit ] to [ if post submit_x ]
Brutal, hardline change.
