Hi,
after chatting with jst, here goes a little brain storm on stuff XSLT could use
from the layout side.
1) Generate both HTML and XML documents.
a) plain text documents
b) [minor] plain text with given MIME type, like e.g. postscript.
Are there any standards specifying how to handle the original and the
transformed document in the DOM? What's window.document? What does IE?
2) useful error reporting. Much more stuff in the listener.
3) Load CSS stylesheets by PI generated in the processing.
Could this be done in the listener while still processing the document?
Interlacing processing and loading would be great.
4) hook up js scripts in the generated document
There are probably more, but those are the ones I have in my head, and are
partly in the XSLT bug list already.

I think most of this is handled in other bugs.
