When I install the o2c player plugin (windows only) from www.o2c.de (just visit that url and allow installation), firefox creates a o2cplayer@eleco.com.xpi file in my profile directory, but does not load the plugin (about:plugins does not list it). If I manually unzip the xpi in that directory, everything works fine.
The same xpi works on Firefox 3.6.x just fine. The plugin also works fine on 4.0 after manual extraction.

Not being able to load a DLL inside a xpi file is not too suprising, after all. The plugin relies on being able to execute a helper exe file installed sideways sometimes, how would it do that from inside the zip file?
I presume there is some magic needed in the install.rdf, which I have added for your convenience. Please let me know what I need to add there to make Firefox install the plugin in extracted form, as it always did (including the betas I have tried).
