If we can't switch to darker buttons, maybe we can at least keep the blue gradient that extends up into the tab

This is due to a persona with a light background? I thought it was related to the new Android system colors at first. This could be tricky.

We can try this:
- have two sets of buttons : the current one, and another that shows up better on light backgrounds.
- evaluate the mean luminance of the background
- switch to the alternate button if luminance exceeds a threshold.
This will not work for *all* personas, but may be better than the current situation.
