I have found that since the new release, I cannot:
=> Have an icon that opens directly to a specified site;
IE: I had an icon that opened directly wikipedia, and when I click on it, it fails to find an application.
=> Click on the address given in an e-mail and get to the specified page. Same as above as far as the symptoms go.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an Icon that goes to a site;
2. Double-click
3. Error: Unable to find an application.


Expected Results:  
Open Firefox at the expected page.

I was not able to reproduce the issue on:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.2a1pre) Gecko/20110411 Firefox/4.2a1pre

Can you be more clear on the steps to reproduce? Does it occur right after a clean install of Firefox?

When I created an icon on my bureau by copying the site's address (transfering it straight from firefox itself), it used to be that double clicking on it opened firefox and the page.
Also, when a page was indicated in an e-mail, I could click on it and be forwarded to the given site.
I have no other choice that to install Firefox "cleanly", ie directly from the Firefox site. It always refuses to update the previous version.
To reproduce:
Create on your bureau an Internet shortcut. An easy way of doing it, is to open the site, and drag the part that's immediately on the left of "http(s)://" on the bureau.
Double-clicking on the created icon should open firefox and redirect it to that site.
For me, it says "Unable to find an application".

Same as above if I click on a link "http://..." in an e-mail.

It sounds like your default internet application is not Firefox anymore. Please check this by going to:
In the firefox menu (if not visible hit the ALT key) go to 
Tools->Options->"Advanced" Tab-> "Check now" button
And set Firefox as the default browser. I hope this clears the issue.
