User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110307 Firefox/3.6.15 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.15) Gecko/20110307 Lanikai/3.1.9 The Activity Manager misses some e-mail accounts that are being downloaded or checked. This can be duplicated on demand. Also, it gives no date stamp or account name for each entry, making the entries useless. The time stamp is useless without a "seconds" part. Worse, the Activity Manager fails to clear itself after each Thunderbird shutdown. The user needs to see the accurate details so they can tell what activity actually is happening or has occurred. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open Activity Manager 2.Click the title bar and change window to stay on top 3.Select "Get Mail" 4.Note how many entries are in Activity Manager Actual Results: It is impossible to match activity lines with accounts, but there are less lines than accounts checked. Expected Results: Activities should be defined by both time and account. Each account should be on a separate line.
Which account got the 221 messages?
are these pop accounts all specified as global inbox? why the need for seconds?
Thanks for your response, and forgive me for missing notification of your comments. Where is the listing for global inbox located? Users need to see the seconds, because the accounts are checked so fast, one does not know which happened first. Therefore, rechecking often will give the same time of action. Seconds are necessary. Thanks again.

I don't have a screen shot of what this looks like, but if your pop accounts are defined for global inbox (as I suspect they are), then your inbox is actually under the local folders account, and not under the mail account name. Hence, "local folders" in the activity manager. check your pop account settings to see if global inbox is enabled. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Global_Inbox > Users need to see the seconds, because the accounts are checked so fast, one > does not know which happened first. Seconds are necessary. please file a separate bug for this. one issue per bug please: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Bug_writing_guidelines ... http://quality.mozilla.org/docs/bugzilla/starter-kit/how-to-write-a-proper-bug-part-2/#using
Thank you for the response. This bug was supposed to cover some other things besides the missed accounts. However, while I had made another bug for that, the confusion still exists here. In the mean time, I found that it was I who made the mistake on the accounts part of the problem. One was not selected to be downloaded when using "Get Mail". So that issue was not valid. I closed the other bug. Still, I hate to start over on the subject of the useless activity manager itself. There is still little that works usefully in the activity manager. So maybe more can be discussed here than the my mistaken account problem. My appologies to all for the confusion. Thanks again.
(In reply to comment #5) > Still, I hate to start over sure. feel free to change the bug summary to the single issue (such as lack of seconds) that you wish for this bug to address.

But please file new bugs for enhancements or fix requests, one but per request, for issues that don't already have a bug filed. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&list_id=1495725&short_desc=activity%20&field0-0-0=short_desc&short_desc_type=allwordssubstr&type0-0-0=anywordssubstr&value0-0-0=manager%20window&resolution=---&resolution=WONTFIX&product=MailNews%20Core&product=Thunderbird But note bugzilla isn't a discussion forum. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/CommunicationChannels lists places for discussion > My appologies to all for the confusion. > > Thanks again. np. no apologies needed.
