User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0 I surf a lot of porn sites. And some of them invoke a popup if you click the play button of their Flash player. Even though I have FF set to 'Open New Window In A New Tab', this isn't working if a window is invoked by a Flash object. For example, if I want to watch porn clip on tnaflix.com and click the Play button, then a popup window of livejasmin.com comes up. But it doesn't open in a new tab. It opens in a new window, even though I've set the above mentioned option. This is very annoying. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set option 'Open new windows in a new tab instead' 2. Go to tnaflix.com 2. Choose a porn clip 3. Click the Play button of that porn clip 4. A popup window comes up which doesn't open in a new tab Actual Results: Instead of opening in a new tab (as set in the preferences), the window opens in a new browser window. Expected Results: The popup window should open in a tab, not in a window. It happens when you click Flash objects that invoke a popup window.
*Loudspeaker off* Reproduced with a clean profile in: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0a1) Gecko/20110414 Firefox/6.0a1 The "Open new windows in a new tab instead" setting just works for ordinary windows, and the setting is stored in browser.link.open_newwindow. The browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction is by default 2, which means "Divert all links according to browser.link.open_newwindow, unless the new window specifies how it should be displayed". The spam window pop-up on tnaflix.com is such a new window. For further information see: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction I changed it to 0 instead of 2 and it worked as documented and opened up in a new tab. So to achieve the requested behavior: open about:config and change the value of browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction from 2 to 0.
