Whenever I am doing something in the "Manage Bookmarks" window and I have to enter some test (such as the name of a new folder, or the URL for a bookmark), if I click on OK when done, all is well. But if I instead hit ENTER, then Mozila crashes. I will attach a stack dump next. This is occuring on OpenVMS M0.6 and M0.7 builds. I know that you folks won't be able to debug the OpenVMS version (that's my job!), but hopefully you can give me clues about where to start looking. Now what is interesting, is that the stack dump is identical to that in bug #63342 (and #63342 is marked as dup of bug #56417).

fyi: i was unable to repro this with a 2001011108 RHLinux build.
I have duplicated this error consistently on build 2001010517 (Mozilla 0.7) for i686 Linux. The exact steps involved: 1) Select manage Bookmarks... from the Bookmarks menu. 2) Right-click on a preexisting bookmark and select Properties... 3) Hit [ENTER]. All Mozilla windows opened from that instance vanish, and the following error is reported in the console: /home/johnzo/mozilla/package/run-mozilla.sh: line 72: 2768 Segmentation fault $prog ${1+"$@"} Here's the string from the About Mozilla window: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.15-4mdk i686; en-US; 0.7) Gecko/20010105

Thank you johnzo@sff.net for being able to reproduce this on Linux. Now that its not an OpenVMS-only problem some "in the know" might be able to fix it.
Platform => All, OS=> Linux could someone either crash using Talkback or crash and get a detailed stack trace [including files, functions, and line numbers]? thanks

...I'd love to get a talkback report but I still can't repro this on a current build (2001011608) If someone can repro this on a really new build (Open VMS or Linux) I'll be happy to keep trying, otherwise...
I'd be happy to make a talkback report, but I can't find info on how to download a Linux version of Mozilla with talkback. The only thing I've found referencing talkback on Linux was the Milestone 17 build on the old milestone releases page. The debugging mentions talkback only in passing. If anyone points me to the right info, I can do it. zo

The installer version includes talkback under Linux, I believe....
I've managed to repeat this crash with a talkback-enabled version of Mozilla (build 2001020608) I wasn't given a tracking number or any assurance that the talkback report had been submitted, though, so I'm not exactly totally sure it made it to you guys. It was submitted under my email address 'johnzo@sff.net' Hope this helps. zo.

This isn't a bookmarks problem. I am building OpenVMS with the new PSM V2 code and when I go from a secure page to a non-secure page a small popup appears warning me that I'm about to enter insecure space; if I click on OK all is fine, but if I hit RETURN to dismiss the popup I get the crash. This is with M0.8 code from around Feb 1, 2001.

setting mozilla0.9 keyword since there is no patch yet.. This has to be an openVMS problem... there is a new bookmarks manager, could any of you try to reproduce with that new manager (I assume you will have to wait a little for 0.8 to be built on openVMS). Thanks.

In my almost M0.8 build (2001021020) I can no longer reproduce this problem with the bookmark code. I am still seeing the same/similar problem with security dialogs, but this may well be due to the fact that OpenVMS is building with the new, still in development, PSM V2 code. I think this problem report should be closed with a WORKSFORME.

I'll check out that build on my Linux box next week; I'm away from it right now.

Just experienced this bug again in 0.8 (build 2001021503) on my Mandrake 7.1 box. Talkback says that crash information was submitted.

I don't think this is a bookmarks bug at all. Here's acopy of johnzo's crash info from a bookmarks related crash - although the data shows he has other unbookmarks related crashes. In fact, looking at the other stacks even though they were triggered differently the trace are the same and hey have the same signature. Yes, I had crashes today and last night with 0.8, while using [ENTER] to close a password entry dialog box. One thing I've noticed is that I can always reproduce the crash using the Bookmark Manager, but can only sporadically reproduce it using the password entry box, which is why I've held off on reporting it through Bugzilla. zo.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux 2.2.18pre21-ide i686; en-US; 0.9), build 2001030505 The problem appears to be tied to using the right-click menu within the bookmark manager. Reproduce with bookmark properties: 1) Select Manage Bookmarks... from the Bookmarks menu 2) Right-click on an existing bookmark and select Properties 3) Dismiss the properties window by clicking OK, clicking Cancel, typing Enter, or clicking the window manager's close wiget. I can't produce a crash when the bookmark properties window is opened by clicking the Properties button in the toolbar or by typing Ctrl-I.

OK, I can also reproduce the crash when using the right-click menu to open the Find a Bookmark window, delete a bookmark, and copy a bookmark. Again, using Ctrl-F or Edit->Search Bookmarks to open the Find a Bookmark window doesn't reproduce the problem.

Finally, if I just right-click numerous times without choosing any options I can cause a crash. (1) Open the bookmark manager (2) Right-click a bookmark (3) Click elsewhere in the manager to dismiss the menu (4) Goto (2) Also, you will notice that the menu leaves artifacts.

crash when right-clickng bookmarks is just a different bug. i think I jsut marked it wfm today. you should go back and see if you have a bug separate from that bug. If it's the same, then I may need to look at reopening that bug since your results may be fairly recent (no build dates!). the bug to which i am referring is bug 68632

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; 0.8.1) Gecko/20010319 I can cause the crashes I described above (using an earlier linux build) with this Win32 build. --A Recap-- Summary: Using the right-click menu within the bookmark manager causes crashes. Reproducable: Always (given enough menu accesses, the number varies) Steps to reproduce: (1) Select the "Manage Bookmarks..." option from the bookmarks menu (2) Right-click within the manager and choose any option or dismiss the menu by clicking elsewhere (3) If option chosen opened a child window, close the child window (4) Goto (2) Other Details: I have had to go through quite a few iterations of steps (2) through (4) at times to reproduce the crash; however, I have always succeeded in causing one. *** If the menu access that actually produces the crash spawns a child window (for example 'Find a Bookmark...' or 'Properties') the crash does not occur until after that child window has been closed. *** I have not been able to cause a crash by repeatedly opening bookmark search or properties with hotkeys or toolbar menus.

recent linux cvs build: i crash fairly often just by using "open" after having selected a bookmark in bookmark manager, loading the url, then dismissing that browser window. If it doesn't happen the first time, it happens second or third.
