I am able to use the last version of Firefox but not Firefox 4. I've gone into the network options in preferences and tried every iteration including automatic proxy, copying and pasting the IP configuration from my computer's network connection manager but to no avail. Old version of Firefox works no problem.

Are you running behind a proxy? Do you have anti-virus and/or a firewall installed? Please see http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Cannot%20connect%20after%20upgrading%20Firefox
