Often, examples and code fragments from some source control location
(hg.m.o, github, etc) are copy+pasted to the wiki. The documentation
then becomes quickly outdated since the canonical VCS version of the
code/example is updated whereas the pasted wiki text does not change.
At best, you can increase developer time by requiring them to
copy+paste, but in practice the current state of affairs shows that
this is unviable.
Instead, there should be a way to embed code fragments into the
wiki. It will be in a <pre> tag or equivalent so making it secure
should not be hard. There should be a link displayed with the tag to
the canonical resource from which presumedly contributors could find
the method to update.
Could also apply to dev.m.o.
