This has happened every time I've restarted the computer since installing Firefox 4.0.
1. Restart computer
2. Shut down HP Advisor
3. Shut down Windows Live Messenger
4. Click Firefox button in Taskbar

6. Click anywhere in FF and system 'whites' it out and shows 'Not Responding'

8. Click FF button in Taskbar
9. FF starts up normally with all old tabs.

Can you try starting Firefox in safe mode, running for a bit, then follow your STR (starting Firefox in safe mode again)

I had to shut down for a Windows update yesterday and afterwards Firefox fired right up as if there had never been a problem. I had waited to say anything because I'm aware of Windows's transitory aberrations, and of course immediately I do, it goes away. When I got your email I shut it down again, and again it started up normally. Of course there's the remote possibility that the Windows update fixed something. Sorry for troubling you.
