User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

I have a shortcut on my desktop called "Mozilla Firefox (Private Browsing)" with the target set to

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -private

If I use this shortcut, the Firefox button will not change to purple, and it will open two pages instead of one. One page will be about:privatebrowsing and the other will be about:home.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a copy of the Firefox shortcut.
2. Add -private to the Target section.
3. Use the shortcut.

Actual Results:
Firefox opens two windows (about:privatebrowsing and about:home) with both of their Firefox buttons set to orange.

Expected Results:
Firefox should open one window with a purple Firefox button at the location about:privatebrowsing.
I think this is intentional.

The orange Firefox button, or opening two windows with the -private switch?

I believe the "purple" part of this bug report is a copy of what you linked, but is opening two windows intentional?

The former. The latter is bug 631973.
