Reproducible: Sometimes
I suspect that this has something to do with wasting GDI handles that is not correctly handled inside Firefox. Firefox is using around 1000 handles, and I have found that default maximal handle count was set to 2700. I tried to increase handle count to 16384 (0x4000): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows\GDIProcessHandleQuota This value can be set to a number between 256 and 65,536. Windows 2000: This value can be set to a number between 256 and 16,384. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724291%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

Please update to Firefox 4, then read https://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_with_WinDbg
I hope that I could use both, Firefox 4 has big memory consumption. Anyway, after increasing "GDIProcessHandleQuota" the Firefox works without any crash. This problem seems to have nothing special to do with Windows 2000 except with its default settings. So reversely, it should be possible to decrease "GDIProcessHandleQuota" on XP based system and reproduce this kind of crash.
