User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0) Build Identifier: 4.0.1 The online software developed by my company uses multiple Java applets on the page. When we tested the latest Java update (1.6.0_25) last week, we realized that Java would unexpectedly stop when used with Firefox. I managed to create a test page to reproduce this issue. In the page, I used applets available from java.com and javatester.org (it's simple applets which test your Java version). To reproduce it, go to http://www.aleks.com/multi_applets_crash2 and click on refresh. After few times (usually less than 10 times) Java will stop and the applets won't be displayed. If you had the Java console opened at the same time, you would be able to see it close suddenly. No Java icon is visible in your Windows system tray. We tested with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and with different versions of Firefox (4.01.1, 3.018, 3.5.10, 3.5.15, 3.6.3, 3.6.13 and 3.6.17). With Java 1.6.0_25, it always crashes. If you test with Java 1.6.0_24 it does NOT crash. If you test with other browsers (IE and Chrome) and Java 1.6.0_25, it almost never crashes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also posted this issue on the Java forum (http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=9565593) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to http://www.aleks.com/multi_applets_crash2 2. Click refresh until Java stops (it should happen in less than 10 refreshes) Actual Results: The page will be completly blank and no Java process will be running Expected Results: You should see 16 Java applets: 8 pink applets and 8 gray applets displaying your version of Java.
I wouldn't say that Java crashes, but rather that kind of Initialization does not work every Time, no?
Can you provide a CrashID/Stacktrace of the Crash? https://developer.mozilla.org/En/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report

If you have your Java console open, the Java console will close unexpectedly and no Java process will be visible. It looks like Java stop suddenly when trying to initialize the new page.
(In reply to comment #2) > Can you provide a CrashID/Stacktrace of the Crash? > https://developer.mozilla.org/En/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_for_a_bug_report Firefox itself does not crash. It's Java inside Firefox that crashes. So I don't have any CrashID/Stacktrace of the Crash.

I can reproduce this with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.0; rv:6.0a1) Gecko/20110505 Firefox/6.0a1 ID:20110505030608 and Java 1.6.0_24 after 4 or 5 refreshes. What's your http://bugreport.sun.com/bugreport/ bug? This looks like a Java bug, not Firefox.

The Java bug report is: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=7042234 (but it's not available yet). I agree that the new release of Java brought the bug but the issue only happens with Firefox.

Re-reading your comment, I just realized that you said you were able to reproduce it with Java 1.6 update 24. I'm very surprised. We tried with different released version of Firefox (like: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1) and were never able to reproduce it with Java 1.6.0_24 (we tried to refresh more than 100 times). The bug only happens with Java 1.6.0_25 and Firefox for us.

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
