User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1
I use multiple displays (an external LCD monitor and my laptop screen). Whereas in Google Chrome 11.0.6 (and I believe in later updates to Firefox 3), if I did command-N to open a new browser window, it opened in the same display (LCD monitor) as the window in focus, even if the window-in-focus's top bar is visible on the display not displayed the Mac OS X Menu Bar. But now if I my Firefox 4 (4.0.1 to be specific) window is open in the non-Menu Bar display, when I hit command-N to open a new window, it opens in the display containing the Mac OS X Menu Bar, instead of the display containing the Firefox window-in-focus.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. When using multiple displays (LCD monitors) open a Firefox window.
2. Move the Firefox window to the display not containing the Mac OS X Menu Bar
3. Do command-N.
Actual Results:
New Firefox window opens in the other display (containing the Mac OS X Menu Bar), not in the current display (containing the Firefox window-in-focus or most recently opened window if all windows are closed).
Expected Results:
New Firefox windows should open in the same display as the last used Firefox window (if all windows are closed) or as the current window in focus.
This is a pain for anyone using one display for a primary task (eg, developing code, hence putting the primary task in the display containing the Menu Bar) and using Firefox to view secondary supplementary materials (eg, programming documentation).
