Description

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:5.0a2) Gecko/20110510 Firefox/5.0a2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:5.0a2) Gecko/20110510 Firefox/5.0a2

When I visit the 4OD website the system becomes unresponsive and task manager shows 100% CPU usage (mainly from the "System" process). I have noticed this from FF 4 Beta through to today's Aurora build (2011-05-10). I have tried disabling/re-enabling hardware acceleration in FF options today and this seemed to fix the problem for now.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit website with hardware acceleration enabled.

Actual Results:
100% CPU usage.

Expected Results:
Normal CPU usage.

I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200, and the problem has been the same with various driver versions over the past few months.

UPDATE: Problem returned on browser restart.
Do you have the 11.5 driver installed?

Yes, I installed it yesterday but no change.
Can you verify that the Issue is bound to D2D Usage (and not D3D Layers) by setting "gfx.direct2d.disabled" to "true" via "about:config" and restarting Firefox?

Do you have Win7 SR-1 applied?

I set gfx.direct2d.disabled to true and restarted but the problem was still there. And yes I do have Win7 SP1 installed.

Also, I don't know if this is relevant to you, but D2D is disabled according to about:support.
So just setting "layers.acceleration.disabled" to "true" helps?

Yeah, works perfectly.

Setting "layers.acceleration.disabled" to "true" fixed 100% cpu for me on 4od. Latest ffx 7.0 Beta 28-Sep-11
