William and I are working on a tab for the Mozilla Facebook. It would display our email opt-in. All we need is a mock up of our normal newsletter sign up (www.mozilla.com/newsletter) in a Facebook tab. (520px max width). William has done an initial mock up. We just need to formalize this so we can hand it over to web dev. William - am I missing anything? Timing for design files to be completed: Last week of May
Overall, the content looks great. I think the main focus should be getting the layout and size of the content areas right given the smaller tab size compared to mozilla.com. I'd like to avoid shrinking fonts if necessary and also make sure that the email input box and the sign up button appear above the fold. Do we need to mock up any of the potential error messages a user might see for invalid input? In addition to designing this sign up tab, we'll also need a scaled down version of the confirmation page that the user sees after clicking "Sign me up!". Winston, I seem to recall a discussion about the newsletter sign up form being simplified in the next month or two. It might have been remove the format field or the privacy check box. If we are going to make any changes like that on mozilla.com, I think it would okay to include those in this design too.

Good question on error messages. I don't think we'll need a mock up. That's already built into the functionality of the form. It should operate the same as it does on the current page. Sort of the same on confirmation message. It's super small on that form. I think it should translate over fine, but just in case, I've attached a screenshot to the bug. The only thing we'll want to remove is the "Stay Connected" since that takes them to our social media links (and they are already on facebook).

Hey Tara, Here are the options I put together. One of the designs uses the latest newsletter design, and the other uses the old one.
Great start, thanks Ty. For future iterations, would you be able to mock it up within the facebook page for us to see it in context? That would help. I personally like the version of the newsletter mockup that has the blue bar at the top. Simply b/c it stands out more... but I know that's the older version (it also has the Dino). I wish we had a stronger graphic representing "newsletter". Winston, what do you think? Do you have a strong preference here? Maybe we can edit the old newsletter (to keep the blue but remove the dino) so it stands out more. We can also explore an "envelope" type graphic... which would take more time since we dont' already have that. It would also be more l10n friendly. But, we can definitely work towards adding that later.
Ty, nice job reflowing the elemenets to fit in the tighter space. One comment based on what Tara said... However, I think it would be best to use the new style. We could add a light colored background with border around the "Mozilla & You" header so it stands out more and isn't so faded into the existing background.
Sure, that works. Lets try it and see. Agree that it's best to use the most current mockup. But I just feel like the graphic isn't all that exciting. I'd prefer to have a fun illustrated envelope with a FF sticker or stamp on it or something. But, lets see what we can do with existing graphics and then explore other options later.

Hi all, I updated the FB Tab image and placed it within the Firefox Facebook Page. I made the background behind "Mozilla & you" a bit brighter and also softened the edges to blend in with the background.
Looks good to me!
