Hi, 

Justin Scott and I have spoken about adding our email opt-in into the user sign up process for add-ons registration.  This is the proposed adaption of that form.  

The newsletter portions would need to flow into Responsys.  James Long has the most experience implementing our newsletter opt-in through Mozilla.com.  

Goal:
• Provide registered add-on users with access to Mozilla email news
• Categorize registrants as add-on developers, users or both

Implementation:
• Add a Responsys integration into the current registration process located at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/users/register
• Information is only passed if user opt-ins for Mainstream newsletter.  Otherwise, no data goes into Responsys.  

Modifications to form have been marked in caps as NEW. Also included mapping fields for Responsys:

Are all the NEW fields aside from the initial checkbox only required if the user opts in to the newsletter? It would be nice to hide them until the user checks the box.

Hey Potch - yeah - exactly.  All fields marked NEW are only needed if they choose to opt-in for the email newsletter.  Totally makes sense to hide if they don't click the e-mail opt-in.

One piece I hadn't considered was the localization of this page.  We don't offer the newsletter in every language.  Rather than ask for Country, I'd like to give them the opportunity to select from a list of available newsletter languages.   I updated the form request below and I also added Potch’s suggestion from comment 1.

What are next steps for getting the below implemented?   Is there anything else I can provide that would be helpful?

We spent a lot of time getting Country on there in a localized format.  Shame to see it going away after being live for less than a week.

Hey - 

My main objective is to give users the option to opt-in for email content.  As long as they know what languages the content is available in, I'm fine with or without country.  Totally up to the manager of this form.  Sorry for the confusion.
