It also might be a good idea if a website person would support the release driver on release day to get this done.

For making the SeaMonkey 2.1 RC 1 public, we'll need to update the website.

This can happen once mirror saturation is good enough, though it's usually a good idea to also have final_verification run and OK before going public on the website.

We can certainly locally prepare this work prior to the "Go" for release. I am filing now so that the prep work can happen, its not a "we need this at this very second" bug.
Note that the download page and URLs are 2.1rc1 as usual, but the product itself refers to being "2.1", so e.g. relnotes are for final already.

I mostly looked at how SM 2.0 RC 1 was done (including the news part; I think we should keep the real news for final, including the blog and announcement).

Since the relnotes are not in the usual folder I had to stop using variables here and there, which may be reverted if/once we have beta versions after 2.1.
