Details
Currently, all of the metadata (name, description, url, classifiers) is presented as a flat form. Instead, you should give the url first and the remaining metadata will be infered. The user will be then given the opportunity to edit the fields. Title may be taken from page title. The description may be infred for a class of websites: e.g. <meta name="description" content="jss - Unix stream tool using for Javascript and JSON" /> for github projects. Other metadata may be infered for e.g. a setup.py file. In this case the ideal workflow is: 1. The user points to a setup.py file. The input screen indicates that this is a python project. 2. The form is populated from the project data. 3. The user submits; it is now catalogued 4. A scraper polls the setup.py file. Project data is updated on file change.
