Build Identifier: Thunderbird 3.1.10
When trying to open an attached jpg using Ashampoo Photo Commander 9_e9.2.1 I get the message "Failure - Mailbox Resource" and "Could not be opened as the affiliated help program did not exist". If Ph.C. 8 is still active on the computer the jpg will open smoothly. Ashampoo has investigated without finding anything wrong - also using Thunderbird. Ph.C. is the affiliated program in the Filetype menu.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. A received email with attached jpg-file
2. Try to open with Ashampoo Photo Commander 9 as opening agent
3. Failure!
Actual Results:
No opening but messages as quoted in "Details"
Expected Results:
Opened the picture!
Ashampoo has investigated thoroughly, also using Thunderbird 3.1.10. Says it must be a Thunderbird shortcoming. The strange thing is that with Ph.C. 8 active there is no failure.

Does it work if you have closed you application and select a jpg on the desktop or via windows file explorer and open it with that application ?
TB just uses the windows registry entry for that application, saves the attachment in the windows temp folder and tries to launch it with the attachment path. TB displays that error if windows reports some kind of error while doing that.
Does it work if you open attachment with a different application ?
Photo Commander 9 works perfect when used directly on jpg's outside TB.
Control Panel>FolderChoices>FileType [may not be the correct English equivalents to the Danish headings] had Ashampoo Photo Commander as opening agent for jpg's.
Before the FileType accepted the choice of Ph.C. it had Windows Picture Viewer -AND IT DIDN'T OPEN THEM EITHER, same failure message.
