Fennac syncing should be managed by the operating system and thus enabled/disabled with the auto-sync settings. But primarily the account should be set in the Android Account Manager.

There's some related work in bug 592772 to use the Account Manager for Master Password on Android.

Yup, it's related to Matt's comment. Basically Matt is saying that bug 592772 is about the using the Android Account Manager for the Master Password. This bug is for using for storing a users Sync credentials. So both are about levering the Android Account Manager for Fennec.

See http://blog.gerv.net/2011/10/firefox-mobile-map-experience/ : advantages of doing this would be that sync could be run as a background service, therefore making it more likely that your data would be there when you want it, rather than having to wait for sync to start up and connect and sync after you start Firefox.

This is fixed in Fennec Native, I'm not sure whether to move this bug over and resolve fixed or leave open in Fennec XUL?

Sync Account is now in OS Accounts Manager. Master Password can be set through Firefox. 
Marking bug as verify fixed.
