When messages are sent containing new manually entered addresses the new addresses are not added to either Collected Addresses nor Personal Address books.

When letters contained in an existing address are typed in the TO entry of a new message, existing addresses which match the entered letters are not found. When entered in the search box of the Address Book window, entries are found either in Personal Address Book or Collected Addresses which are not offered when the same search character string is entered in the TO entry of a message being composed.

Actual Results:  
I have entered new addresses directly into messages many times and after sending, when I attempted to use these addresses again they were not brought up by typing characters of their user name or domain name in the TO box.  


Expected Results:  
I found that the new addresses had not been automatically added to either address book and only came up in subsequent new messages after I manually entered them through the Address Book.

In searching to determine whether the new addresses were present but not being found I discovered that there were other addresses that matched the search spec and should have been offered during addressing of a message but were not.  These were other addresses that matched the spec although they were not the addresses I wanted to use in the specific message.

Is that build identifier accurate? If so, you should update to Thunderbird 3.1 and see if that fixes it, since 2.0.x isn't maintained anymore.

Yes, it's accurate.  I won't report any more bugs on this then.  I may or may not upgrade.

Email addresses are collected in the address book called Collected Addresses, but they are also collected when the email address is already in Personal Address Book. The latter should not happen. I found out that the comparison on email address is done case sensitive and that that is the reason the email address is added to Collected Addresses. Please use case insensitive lookup when collecting email addresses.
