related to bug 657614/bug 657836. Also if you go to the username labeled text field submit something in and then click on the text box the autocomplete bubble does not appear until you type something that starts to match what you already have.

Wait. These works fine. I see a pan and zoom into the edit box. We no longer show the next/prev buttons. The 'next' button is on the Android keyboard. If I submit a username, I see the text in the suggestion bubble if I start typing. Sounds like it works. Looking to close this bug.

You're right this is the right behavior. I have updated the wiki page https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Fennec/FormAssistant#Features with infos about the features of the form assistant depending on the context.
