Tara--

I want to update the rev guide for fx 5, but I think this is something I can work with Rhonda on.

I have a list of little tweaks that I will add Tuesday.
Blocks: 660301
sounds great :) I'm cc-ing Rhonda here so she has a heads up.
:) Thanks guys.

Hi Rhonda--

Attached you will find a version of the Rev Guide that I've manually edited to help you as we go through this process. All new copy for the Rev Guide is noted in the scan, but the final copy is in the google doc I will also attach.

The main changes we're going for are to remove all mention on "4" along with reshuffling the features we have so they make a bit more sense. We've made some basic copy updates, fixed grammatical errors that slipped through the last time, and updated a few features.

We are also renaming the "What's New" section to favorite features, which negates the last section of the old guide. We're moving what was in the old favorite features throughout the new version. We're also removing the speed section and perf graph, and moving the speed blurb to cutting edge. The privacy section has been beefed up, and we'd like to update the screenshot of DNT with the one you will find in 659004.

Lastly, we went through the UI section of the rev guide, and put the features into buckets. This screws up our tier structure for the Rev Guide and the table of contents, but was hoping you could offer some help with that.

Rhonda, shared the copy doc with you.
Also, the icons we should show on the first page of the rev guide (next to the bullet points) are also attached.
Attached image Home Button
We need a pretty version of this to go with the home button blurb (one also without the persona).
Attached image Book Marks Button
This is what we should put next to the bookmark button bullet--also preferably prettier and without the persona.

Hey Laura--
The "DNT screenshot" you refer to: on the bug there are several screenshots--can you let me know the exact name of the one you want to use, and also what screenshot it should replace on what page of the current Rev guide?

I will be working on this and should be able to get you a copy to review by EOD Monday or early Tuesday.

Thanks!

Let's used the Windows version, en-US please. (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=535884)

So, lets keep the one we have, "Tabs on Top", but take out the "Firefox Menu" screenshot. Instead, I'd like to add a little grey arrow to the Tabs on top screenshot to point to the Firefox Button (the big orange box on the left hand side). That should also help fit the bullets, Tabs on top and Firefox Menu on to one page.

As for copy, I'm still cleaning up a few things. I'll post in the bug when its absolutely ready to go.

Ok thanks!

Rhonda--copy is pretty close to being done--I'd go ahead and slot it in, but there may be a few tiny changes. Id say the copy is 95% complete.
Rhonda,

Also, can you please add a "press@mozilla.com" email to the front cover (like what the mobile rev guide has?

Thanks!
my last round of edits are in the doc. next is for melissa to be final reviewer on copy.

Laura- can you file a PR bug- assign to Melissa (since I'm out) and add Barbara and Val. Shannon can help see when Melissa can review final copy.

Barbara and Val will look at the changes and decide if we need to localize.
Hey Laura--
I have the first proof of the Reviewers Guide for you:
http://www.intothefuzz.com/rhonda/FF5_Reviewers_Guide/FF5_Reviewers_guide_US_proof1.pdf

Some notes:
I put the Home and Bookmark icon in place, but if this is to go to print, we will need high resolution versions of these. If this will only ever be for screen download, then I think the ones I have are OK.

Do we have a FF 5 logo or should I just leave the version off of the regular logo?

For the table of contents: I added the subcategories as well as the main categories.

I wasnt clear on what you wanted me to do with the Tabs on Top screenshot/Firefox Menu screenshot -- look and see if I got this wrong, which I think I did.

Thanks!

It won't be printed, so I think we're ok.

We don't have a fx 5 logo, so its ok to use what you have.

Great, I have some tweaks for you--see below.

I was hoping to have one screenshot instead of two for tabs on top, but I don't think there's any way we can do that. I think we can leave as is.

More notes:

Page 1:
Press@mozilla.com does it look better centered under "Ff rev guide"?

Page 2:
Get up and Go should be its own category ( sync and location go under it, but they don't need special page #s)
Protecting Your privacy should be its own line.

Page 4
-Home icon and Bookmark button should be the same size (prefer the home button size).

Page 10:
Get up and go should include sync and location aware, not the privacy stuff.
try and fit location aware browsing with sync on one page?

Page 11: privacy stuff should have the blocky font of get up and go and start on a new page.
Add grey arrow outside of screenshot but pointing to '"Tell websites I don't want to be tracked" "DNT feature" so it stands out more.

Copy is being checked by one more person, I'll let you know when that's complete.

Hey Laura--
I made the changes above, but I'll wait to see what copy changes need to happen first before sending it back for proofing.
:)

Thanks Rhonda--still waiting on one more review.
hi laura - reviewing today. will send feedback shortly.

Thanks Melissa--

Rhonda, can you go ahead and flow the copy in? Please disregard our color coding ;)

I know you're off today, but would be great to see something EOD Monday.
Hey Laura--
Was there an updated copy deck that I should be using after the initial one, or do you want me to just make the changes to the guide that you specified in Comment 15 and send that version back to you? I didnt see an updated copy version in my inbox or attached to this string.
:)

Hi Rhonda--

Can you make the updates to comment 15 and use the copy that's now final in the doc we were using from last week.

Thanks!
hey laura!
the second proof can be found here:
http://www.intothefuzz.com/rhonda/FF5_Reviewers_Guide/FF5_Reviewers_guide_proof2.pdf

I think I got all the changes--I added a blue arrow to the DNT screenshot but it can be grey if you would rather, I thought it stood out a bit better.

Take a look and let me know if there are any changes to be made. :)
--rhonda
Hi Rhonda--

Two more changes and I think we can sign off ;)

1) Can we make the arrow grey to match the other arrows?
2) On page 2/3 of the PDF
Can we try and get the firefox button and tabs on top blurbs on the same page?
We're hoping to cut the page that just has the firefox button because it feels empty. What if we removed the screenshot for the firefox button and just put both blurbs on top of the tabs on top screenshot we have?
This would also mean adding an arrow also on the tabs on top screenshot to the orange Firefox button.
Hey Laura--
The new (and final?) PDF for the Reviewer's Guide is here:
http://www.intothefuzz.com/rhonda/FF5_Reviewers_Guide/FF5_Reviewers_guide_US.pdf

I fixed little inconsistencies with the type throughout, added the links, and made the cover centered (the way it is for Mobile) for consistency.

Let me know if we need to make any additional changes to this.
:)
--rhonda
Hi Rhonda--

Last change---

Can you switch the copy of HSTS and DNT and page 10 and 11?

We want DNT copy on top of the DNT Screenshot.

Other than that, we're good to go!

Thanks,

L
Hey Laura--
Sorry I've been on other projects today--I'll get this to you first thing tomorrow am.

No worries--

Can we actually do something else to solve the issue--

Can we keep DNT where it is, and then move the screenshot under that? We then keep the order of the other text as before. DNT should really be at the top anyway, so sorry about that.

Thanks for your help!

Hey Laura--

is there an editable file we can get both rev guides in - in case community wants to do localization?
Not sure what kind of file format that would be--Rhonda, any ideas?
The files have always been done in Adobe InDesign CS4, so if your community has InDesign and familiarity with how to edit it, then it would be editable in that, but InDesign is not able to be opened by Word or any other universal (Mac, PC Platform) word processing application.
