I'd suggest to derive from the profile name, unless the profile name is "default" or "default user", and then to derive from the UNIX user name, or, if running on a non-POSIX OS, then and only then to choose a compiled-in default.
Marking NEW seems like a good idea to me.

I'm not sure which username you're referring to, the default nickname "IRCMonkey", the ident name "chatzilla", or the fullname "New Now Know How", but I'm not inclined to change any of them. It's my prerogative :)
