see reproducibility
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Under tools|options|privacy, set cookie management to 'accept cookies from sites' but also 'keep until' as 'ask me every time'
2. for a given site X of your choice (I use theregister.co.uk) that requires cookies and a password, but password before cookies, clear cookies and pswd for that site (so they will be asked for next time).
3. go to X & try to log in. Password manager popup will appear asking if you'd like to remember password, a second later the cookie manager will show a 'what do you want to do with this cookie?' popup, which immediately removes the password manager popup, before you can click on it.
Actual Results:
Can't save password easily. Can get around by allowing cookie to be saved first time round then logging in 2nd time but that's not the point.
Expected Results:
Able to save pswd and cookie in one go.
Suggestion: don't change functionality that works. Previous system used by fx 3 worked , why mess around with it?

Specified platform as windows 2008 - *still* cannot specify this in the inital bug report (only modify it to this once made)
OS: Other → Windows Server 2008

Maybe a Combination of Bug 588240 (Cookie Dialog as DH) + Bug 641892 could solve the Issue.
OS: Windows Server 2008 → All
Hardware: x86_64 → All
Whiteboard: [doorhanger]
Version: unspecified → Trunk

Hi XtC4UaLL, I'm not sure I understand your comment - are you suggesting I do something, or that when these two bugs are solved then so will my problem and I don't have to do anything? (certainly 641892 looks like mine generalised)

Your Issue is just a Consequence of a Design Choice (-> Introduction of Doorhangers) what isn't fully completed yet.
Unless you want to make Patches you simply have to wait :-)
Confirming with FF4. However, even when the password doorhanger disappears, there remains a key icon in the location bar (where the doorhanger originated). Clicking the icon makes the doorhanger appear again and can be used. The icon disappears when the page is fully loaded.

This is the same as with Save file dialog I guess.
This is still occurring in 15.0.1 on Linux. It is impossible to update passwords unless you accept cookies and then go into the preferences and remove the site.
Over a year and still marked as NEW.
