660692 - Firefox freezes while browsing in multiple tags

Graphics freeze and I can't go between tags, but when I type a new address (no blinking cursor in address field) sometimes the new page jumps up. While this happens, I sometimes get to see small parts of some of the web pages in my tabs. I have disabled Cool Iris and Web Developer, my only installed plugins. The FF bundle is left untouched. The "Force quit applications" list FF as active. This has happended at least 5 times in one week and never before.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Browse for hours. Open and close tabs.
2. Have 3 or more open?
3. Click between tags... and suddenly FF freezes it's viewport and tab shifting options.



I am a power user and have never had big problems with FF. This problem occurs in FF in my PB AND iMac after the last update to FF4.

I have changed to tabs BELOW URL WINDOW on both machines (which IMHO should be the default). Don't go the Microsoft way, please!

Attachment: Screen dump

Screen dump  of how FF looks like crashed. It seems sometimes it defreezes after more than 20 seconds. I also had a crasch on the FF bug page after sending the bug report with only one tab open.

Please open the preferences and disable hardware acceleration in the advanced tab. Does it stop this behavior after restarting Firefox?

Could you see if the issue occurs if using an empty testing profile? (Don't install any addons into it)

Will try addons one by one. They were already deactivated as one of my first measures. The harware acc bit seemed to have resolved the issue. Will do more testing before status is resolved. Thanx all of you for input!

Setting resolution to Resolved WFM.
No more issues with the hardware acceleration disabled.
