With the communication between devices offered by Firefox Sync, a mobile device could easily be leveraged as a software security device for desktop Firefox - using the mobile device in the same manner as a smartcard or master password to secure private data such as certificates and passwords.

This would consist of UI in desktop Firefox's security manager to manage associating a sync-enabled mobile device as the software security device, UI in mobile Firefox to accept the association and to accept authentication requests from the desktop client, optional UI on the desktop to recover from a lost device, and a little backend in the sync servers and client.

I realize this may not be feasible right away, but it is a good way to provide additional value and security out of the mobile sync relationship.
