This doesn't sound like it would be useful... nor does it have something to do with privacy and permissions.

(In reply to comment #1) > This doesn't sound like it would be useful... nor does it have something to > do with privacy and permissions. you're right that doesn't have anything to do with privacy. but why limit site-specific preferences to privacy only? in my eyes this approach is somewhat half-hearted... it might be not in scope for now, but maybe that scope should be broader in the future. Regarding usefulness, even if not that useful, it would still be consistent (of course only if the above mentioned broader scope would be applied).

Consistency without utility is definitely not a goal :) An addon could be written if people really did want the ability to manually tweak site-specific download directories, rather than just clearing them.
