Description

This is a follow up to bug 658490, now that we have europe.mozilla.org up and running, we need www.mozilla-europe.org to be a redirect to europe.mozilla.org so as to progressively phase out this domain name.

The internet user clicking on a www.mozilla-europe.org/path/to/page link on the web should land on europe.mozilla.org/path/to/page

Note that other subdomains such as events.mozilla-europe.org, blogs.mozilla-europe.org... should not be impacted by this change, the future domain nale location for these projects is not decided yet, other bugs will be filed once it is decided.

as discussed with james on IRC, we would like this redirect to be just a one month redirect, the time for people to get used to the new site. After one month, we would redirect the domain to the root of www.mozilla.com (to avoid potential 404 on the path)

Pascal, just an update, evidently there's still some discussion with Chrissie and the stakeholders about this, but I've put in all my arguments for this and hopefully we can go ahead with this soon.

Comment 2 sounds like this is on hold for the time being.  Since I'm about to leave on vacation I'm dropping this back in the queue as it's likely when it comes off hold I won't be here.  I probably wasn't a good choice to hand this bug to anyway, it's not a static-redirect site, it's a full website with a CMS that's being phased out.  oremj or fox2mike likely know it better.

Renaming for clarity, we'll figure out a traffic plan after we know what the site launch/content will look like timewise.
