Are updates still appearing if you disable them? Then this would be considered as a bug.
Go to Tools->Options->Advanced Tab-> Update Tab -> uncheck the options that you consider.
If this issue will not reproduce anymore after these steps, please change this bug's status to Resolved. Thanks
Andre: The problem here is not that he gets an update notification. The bug is that the update seems to fail and he is still on 4.0 and he gets of course the update notification again the next time.
Why should he disable the update check, how should that solve the problem ?

Thanks for the notice. So it seems that this bug should be set on NEW, right?
But the problem is that I can't reproduce it. So, if you do, please feel free to change its status.

Reporter, can you still see this issue? Could you attach a screen video capture of it? Thanks
It's very likely that you can't reproduce this or we would get millions of new bug reports for this.
The workaround is to download the full version from mozilla and install it over the existing build.
The developer needs some update logs that he usually requests from the user (but not this time ?)
You can see what and and at which point the update fails to apply.
Richard, do you still see this problem?
