here's why this is really bad:

you are reading mail, the thread pane has focus.
biff goes off, the folder pane gets focus.
you hit the delete button, thinking the folder pane still has focus and you are
asked to confirm if you want to delete the folder.

can you investigate? cc'ing steve, as I'm sure we'll get dups of this.

it might be related to bug, so I'm assigning to bhuvan for now.
Agreed, this is bad. Good catch...especially if the user is on a dialup connect.
In general, focus is bad in lots of areas ;-(.
I'm still working on tracking it down. steve, have you seen this?
No, not personally, I can imagine this scenario happening though. I'll
investigate to see if I can reproduce on the Gateway machine (dialup) we have in
the lab. I'll bet it takes low RAM and low speed to reproduce 100%.
steve & racham, don't spend any cycles on this until I can figure out how to
reproduce it.
taking back from racham until I can reproduce it.

I also have this problem. All other open programs lose focus when Mozilla checks
for new mail. For example I am writing something in ICQ and suddenly ICQ msg
window loses focus. Very annoying. Oh and it is not necessery that there is a
new mail and that biff goes off.

Mozilla 2002020208 on Windows XP.

I don't see this behavior in SM 1.5a trunk.
