Details

Whenever I start Firefox the password manager prompt is shoved in my face, and I either have to cancel it, or type in my long password. If I cancel it then it usually pops up again later, so I feel forced to type in my password every time that I start Firefox.

If the prompt were a door hanger that I could remove out of my way when I don't want to see it and still enable me to easily type it in later then that would be much better imo.
The Master Passwort Prompt that is you're talking about, yes?
Maybe Bug 461455 can help.
