- Redesign the current Beta Newsletter Template (see attachment) to the
new template structure (similar to mainstream news)except no "in this issue section", date image and only have one or two section for articles.

- the new design should also incorporate the Beta re-branding (wordmark, color scheme)

- we want to make sure that the newsletter templates have distinct designs (to differentiate from mainstream template) and aligned to the new branding (rapid release branding for aurora, beta)

- if possible: next beta newsletter july 5 (but also not urgent. the following beta newsletter is in early August.)
Hey Grace, I didn't see an attachment :)

Also, if the newsletter goes out on July 5th (or early August) what would be our design handoff deadline?

Good one for Ty.

i dont know how long it take to implement design to the email system. winston might have a better idea there. winston when do we need the design by? few days? can we get it on 5th of july assuming we have a couple of days after the merge?
Hi Grace,

Would you be able to share the current Beta Newsletter Template. Id like to get started on the design on Friday.

Thanks.
Usually it takes us a 1-1.5 week to code and test.
okay. let's plan for the following merge then ;)

hi ty. thanks. attached current template
Thanks Ty. Looking good overall.

I like it, but dont' love it.

I hadn't seen that particular blue being used before, at least not so much of it in the background. Is that a blue that's associated with "beta" ? Any other (more familiar) color schemes that we can use for this?

I also feel like the header is a bit washed out... Ideally that would stand out more. We should probably be using the new wordmark in there.

Sean (others), thoughts?

agree with tara on the background color. the blue background is also bit too thick maybe?

- the logo is also the logo mobile beta. although, this is also a newsletter for mobile beta, we should be using the firefox beta logo and wordmark. maybe we can create a mobile section with the mobile logo?

- the text inside the border is a bit hard to see.

thanks!

The beta newsletter template should be the same as the release. The branding is exactly the same, so the background should be the same.

re: beta logo with ribbon, that is only used on the phone, so we should use the regular Fx logo here as well. I think the only way we should be stating it is beta is with perhaps a bar across the top of the template stating the beta build.

That, or add a red beta ribbon on the content area itself top right, not on the logo.
Grace, can you please insert a design hand-off deadline here so we know what we're pushing against? Lots of work on our plates, want to make sure we're prioritizing. If this isn't urgent, lets extend the deadline a bit please.
i dont think this one will be ready for next weeks newsletter. the next newsletter is august 16.

we should plan to have by early august as we also need some time (1.-1.5 weeks) to get it in responsys to code and test.
Ty, are you good with finishing this up by early August? say, first week of August?
Absolutely! Ill be able to make the changes before then though.
Even better. Thanks Ty!
Hey Grace, Ty is going to shoot to get this done in early August. We needed to shuffle a few things around on his plate. Hope that works, thanks!
hi tara. can we revisit this bug again this week? thanks!
same here. the design doesnt have to be drastically different.
but to have a clear distinction from the aurora newsletter and mainstream newsletter.

so if i was an aurora newsletter subscriber, beta newsletter subscriber and mainstream newsletter subscriber, it's clear to me from which mailing list and what content im receiving.

let me know if it would be possible to have something to review next week?

thanks!
Hey Ty,

The download buttons for desktop and mobile don't seem distinguishable - can we make them different colors or a different shade?
That was going to be my only nit as well. *but* we should we consistent in how we render these around the site. What was the consensus on the channels page? I think this is what we launched with. And are we okay with having the Firefox Beta News written in that way? will look to Sean for that.
Agree we should be as close to web as possible - but we should also take email click conversion into consideration. I'd tweak either the background color or the buttons to bring out a little more contrast - or at least test two versions.
we have the same buttons in the channel page.
my understanding is that we can only have the download buttons in green now?
agree that we can probably make the button more distinguishable if possible but the overall design looks great to me.

in addition, the third section or the CTA doesnt always have to be download. im assuming that they were just placeholders based on CTA from previous aurora and beta newsletters.

thanks ty!
Indeed, they are the same buttons from the channel page. I talked to Sean and Ty... I think we're going to move forward with these for now, and then work on a design solution that helps to differentiate them more (later).

Grace/Winston, does this sound good to you guys? If so, lets close this and see how it performs, and then tweak as needed.
Hey guys, are we done here? If so, Ty could you please post the final files so we can close? Thanks.
