Details

(Whiteboard: [testday-20110916])

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20110504 Firefox/4.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20110504 Firefox/4.0.1

In Session Restore, sometimes you do not want to actually restore anything (maybe you know restoring will crash Firefox, although you do not know exactly which tab or combination of tabs is the culprit). In this situation, it would be extremely useful if individual window titles could be dragged out (perhaps into a separate Firefox instance, or into a mail composition window) and the URL could be obtained by right-clicking.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Visit about:sessionrestore
2. Attempt to copy or drag individual tab titles

Actual Results:
None

Expected Results:
Dragging a tab title into another browser window should open the corresponding page in that browser window.

Dragging a tab title into some other context should paste the corresponding URL into the drag destination.

Right-clicking a tab title should offer a context menu with "Copy URL" (and perhaps "Open in a new window" etc)

I'm reluctant to suggest that the tab titles should be actual links, because that would make it too easy to accidentally navigate away from the sessionrestore context. But it should be possible to extract the URLs for individual tabs, for example for pasting into a bug report like this one.

Power users can certainly reason about how this is implemented and discover the sessionstore.js file, and copy+paste out of that, but this is at best a cumbersome and clumsy workaround for the masochistic elite.
As it stands, Firefox does not support dragging tabs to another application. Dragging a tab anywhere other than the tab bar will result in it opening in a new Firefox window. I'm not sure if there is a bug on file to support dragging to third-party apps. If there was, it would certainly be a dependency of this bug.

Thanks for filing.
Tested the reported issue on the latest Aurora:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:8.0a2) Gecko/20110915 Firefox/8.0a2

Considering comment 2, if considering this as an issue it can be set as Invalid.
But maybe, in the future, it can be considered as an enhancement. If the case, feel free to reopen the bug.

"if considering this as an issue it can be set as Invalid"

But it was filed as an enhancement request, so if it's not going to be done, then it should be WONTFIX (unless it's a duplicate or something, but I can't find anything the same)
