Build Identifier:

Nokia has released the n9 and the Internet buzz is hyper positive. However, the default browser is based on Webkit2 (the first mobile Webkit2 browser) and Firefox is not available - yet.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to the Nokia app store
2. Search for Firefox for the n9

Actual Results:
Not there

Expected Results:
It should be

(At the moment there is actually no option to search for any software for the n9, but the sooner this gets worked on the better. Perhaps it would be possible to have Firefox on the n9 when it's available fore real purchase in stores.)
Depends on: 661020
We had a number of bug reports on running on "maemo6" which was the working title for the system that runs on N9, I know that some people at Nokia did build it at least. Everything else is probably unknown to us so far.
Note that if Mozilla wants to build ourselves for those devices, it looks like the build environment is similar to what we have for the N900: "Harmattan Platform SDK is based on a Scratchbox cross-compilation environment", see http://www.developer.nokia.com/Community/Wiki/Harmattan%3APlatform_Guide

Also note that N9's "MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan" is technically not MeeGo 1.2, but a bit of a strange animal, as it's a mixture of the core of maemo5 ("Fremantle") but somewhat evolved ("Harmattan" is the code name of maemo6), with a lot of the MeeGo 1.2 APIs and Qt stuff, plus a completely new UX that doesn't exist in either maemo5 or MeeGo 1.2, but not completely sure how much the latter affects us.
Doug, do we have a bug on file for this?
Deadline tomorrow to apply for an n950. Somebody @ mozilla better do it!

(I am sorry to say, but my commitments on other stuff makes me not a good candidate to do any heavy lifting, and thus I am not eligible to get one.)
I think Firefox would better fit into upcoming apps.meego.com repository, which would be possible to use on N9. (apps.meego.com is targeted for community open source projects). Unless Mozilla has some other considerations.
We have a buildbot running which is already building with official SDK. Also find this description:

For N9 the ovistore makes sense since its more natural way for users to interact with apps.
I wouldn't say it's more natural, but Nokia store (Ovi) will be a default, so from this point, Firefox will be more discoverable from there. Community repository (which would be possible to enable for N9 too) on the other hand will be targeted for multiple Meego devices, not specifically only N9, so it worth to have Firefox there as well.
Are you aware that we already build fennec for meego through the (internal) meego obs and it is for some meego version even the default browser?

You find fennec in hg.meego.com/mozilla-central in branch fennec.

Wrong - it is there for those who have N9/N950 with MeeGo 1.2 Harmattan. The shop is not public - of course not yet - and I think its not yet mozilla driving this yet, but i think mozilla will soon

I have been informed that on the N9 unless the user toggles a setting to activate developer mode, additional repositories will not be available. (And that switch can not be undone.)

Thus, the Nokia app store may not be the only place to get Firefox, but it must be one of the places. (Updating the summary accordingly.)
Summary: Fennec should run on the Nokia N9 and n950 → Fennec should be available for Nokia N9 and n950 in default app stores

Whi is "we" there? Just would be interesting. I am fully aware that romaxa has done some stuff there and done private builds there. The only MeeGo version I know that has it as the primary browser is N900 Community Edition. This bug is about N9/N950, though.
just one question :
will ever be a mozzila firefox for N9/50 available to download from the nokia store like the maemo5 one ?
The MeeGo Firefox is a community ported project. Mozilla is not working on the build. Adding Aaron for input if this is a valid bug.

Ever confirmed: true
I think romaxa actually has uploaded a version to the Nokia Store, CCing him.
yes it is available at the store so it should be marked as fixed
