Now I have to open the message in a separate window to see them. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up a subscription to an RSS feed that includes some sort of graphics (for example, http://www.xkcd.com/rss.xml) 2. Click on a message to view the preview Actual Results: I see the text, but no graphics Expected Results: I should see text and graphics (as I did before 3.1.11)
What version did you update from ? Are you viewing feeds as webpages or as summary ?

The install.log shows install messages from v3.1.5, but since there are no messages from 3.1.11, I surmise that there may have been an update between then and now. Doesn't seem to matter if I choose to view feeds as webpages or as summary
Does it works better in safe-mode (see http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe-Mode) ? Any error in Tools -> Error console when you try to view the feeds ?

Sorry for the delay in replying -- I was on vacation. No: Safe mode makes no difference. No errors in the error console.
Note: I just upgraded to Thunderbird 5.0 -- the problem is still there
Does switching to view -> as webpage helps ?
Switching to view -> feed message body -> as webpage shows the entire web page, which is significantly slower (because it's a lot more data) than what I was seeing before. Before the upgrade, I was seeing the text plus images for the new posting. After the upgrade (with the view set to "as default"), I couldn't even see some of the feeds, and I certainly couldn't see images. View -> feed message body -> as webpage shows the text, the images, the ads, the background graphics, the other links with their icons, the popup ads in a separate tab, etc.
summary works fine in current release, undoubtedly fixed by a past bug. please open a new bug if reproducible in Tb11 or higher.
