I was unable to locate the Drumbeat source code anywhere (is it even available?), but this can probably be fixed by setting {% autoescape off %} at the top of any Django template that is meant to be rendered in text/plain format. Reproducible: Always
To clarify, the email had been sent using Drumbeat's "messages" feature.
