User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1 Build Identifier: Firefox 5.0 When I upgraded from FF4 to FF5 and restarted FF, I found the 1st window was OK but all subsequent windows had the LH tab missing. Also, the "open a new tab" tab was on the extreme LHS of the bar instead of the RHS. I was able to open the missing tab by using "list all tabs" drop-down menu and clicking on the top item, which was the missing tab. Although the page displayed the tab belonging to it was still missing. If I opened a new tab by clicking on a hyperlink on the page belonging to the hidden tab, the new tab opened to the left of the "open a new tab" tab. Moving tabs around on one side or the other of that latter tab was possible but it was not possible to move from L to R or R to L of the tab. All this occurred on openSUSE 11.4 (x64). I then installed 12.1 (x32) on the same machine and FF5 seemed to work on that so I wondered whether it was a 64-bit thing. At first, FF5 seemed OK after a 11.4 (x32) installation but this all proved illusory as FF5 exhibited the same problem on both 32-bit systems after closing and reopening FF - either after a requested or automatic restore of all windows and tabs. I have FF configured to remember the last status on closedown rather than the home-page. In FF5, I've tried reconfiguring one of the affected windows so that all the tabs are visible and in the correct order - deleting them and reopening them - but when I close FF down, perhaps by logging out and logging on again, the corrected window is in the same mess as before. When I de-install FF5 and return to FF4, all the tabs are visible and back in the right place. Reproducible: Always

Can you please give real steps to reproduce and also try in Safe Mode (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode)?
1. Have several windows open in FF4, some with multiple tabs, and ensure preference is set to "show windows and tabs from last time" for when Firefox starts. 2. Update to FF5. 3. Restart FF. (I quit and then start it again). 4. At this stage, all should be OK. Now Logout - without closing FF. 5. Logon. FF will restart and now the tabs should be messed up as I described. I switched safe mode on and all looks OK. I guess the next step would be to disable each of my plug-ins and see what happens?
Of course, it wasn't plug-ins as they are not disabled. D'oh! Left safe mode so as to try disabling extensions one at a time. First extension I disabled was "openSUSE Firefox Extensions 1.0.1." Problem(s) solved, or so it appears. I'll do some more tests before signing off on this - just in case.

Please do that and if you cannot reproduce the issue anymore, set the status of the bug accordingly. Thanks!
Made the update to FF5 on another machine, problems appeared, disabled the extension, problems vanished immediately. So I'm changing status to "resolved." Thanks.

For information if anyone has this about now 4 July 2012 This or similar has surfaced again with addon/bypassadfly apparently the culprit All calm seems restored on removing addon/bypassadfly and restarting. I am currently using linux livedvd Mint 13 MATE "FF 12.0 - FF for mint 1.0" Neither the drop-down tab-list icon, nor the group-tabs icon visible unless using "customize" (when they aren't active) These icons can be customize-moved in-board, then they stay accessible & functional. However, the first tab of each page is invisible, apparently gone off to the left of display, and the newtab just showing as a plain + rather than a + in tab's clothing. ** More worrying: I had an instance of file manager in my Mint panel, and the proper icon of nautilus changed to the dark house of FF. Creepy. Killed it & reloaded file manager, the proper icon restored. Who knows what other hidden mischief my have transpired.
Ah, but now customize does not work
