News readers are web services allowing users to subscribe to RSS/ATOM feeds online and view them. If Firefox detects a feed, it offers the user to subscribe to it, either as a live bookmark or via one of the web services.

The current News Readers in en-US are Google and My Yahoo!.

We want to ship a good set of defaults for Kashubian, and will work towards that in three stages.

First, the localization team and Milos (Milos Dinic) will look at the market for the language and come up with a good candidates. Jurk, we'll need your input on this, the guidelines for making recommendations are on <https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Firefox/Productization>. After we decided on a particular news reader, Milos will contact the owner and ask for permission. Jurk, we'll likely need your help to at least get the contact information.

Once we have a specification on what the set of news readers for Kashubian should look like, the localization team and Milos will work on an implementation on that. This should happen by the localization team creating and attaching patches for the desired changes, and requesting review from Milos. After a successful review, the localization team will land them. If you're not feeling comfortable with creating those changes, ask Milos to help out.

Please don't commit any modifications in browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties to the hg repository without a patch reviewed by Milos, Stas, Axel or someone else appointed by Milos/Stas. The data here is sensitive to users and our search partners, thus the extra care here.

The Kashubian team will be driving this bug to completion.
Milos,

Please, use the default en-US news readers:

1. Goggle
2. Yahoo!

Jurk
Sorry,

Naturally I meant "Google" - not "Goggle"

Jurk
I assume, this bug is complete.

Jurk. same as for other bugs: We'll need you to attach a patch here, and then commit it after you get an r+(positive review).
Milos,

There are no differences between the en-US and what we propose, so I guess no patch needed.
Jurk, in that other bug you mentioned netvibes would be proper choice for you. Are you still with that? FWIW, you have Polish news readers setup in http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/l10n/mozilla-aurora/pl/file/2249a55dc4bb/browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties#l12
Milos,

No, we want stay with the Polish news readers, if possible. We discussed the other options but in a long run, it's safer (maintainable).
Jurk,

So, I'm kind of confused now.

Initially you wanted Google and Yahoo! as news/feed readers(comment 1 in this bug). Now, netvibes is already in Polish set-up. So, would you mind telling us once more what would you like to see in news/feed readers, and prepare a patch for it please?
Milos,

Here it is: (I was confused myself as 2 separate bugs talked about the same thing)

Initially Google and Yahoo were OK, but since the region.properties were adjusted to match the Polish,

***please keep AS IS***

The region.properties should already been patched in Bug 668776. Let me know if I'm confused again.
As per IRC chat with Axel and Jurk, closing this one.
