When viewing Inbox the date is displayed MM/DD/YY when language selection is
English/Australia(en-au) or English/United Kingdom
I notice that the user-agent reported field is en-US - different from selection
in preferences:
"Some fields initialized from your user-agent, Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux
2.4.0-prerelease i586; en-US; m18) Gecko/20010129. If you think it got it wrong,
please tell dmose@mozilla.org what it should have been."
have changed language selection several times and quit/restarted mailnews -
still the same issue.
could be mailnews is picking the date format from th language selection which is
not reported according to preferences.
Also on same subject time display on AM/PM 24H option would be useful :-)))
thanks for your time and effort, mailnews looks like a very good candidate for
an alternative to netscape mail!

The mail date format is determined by the system locale in which mozilla is
started up.
It's not affected by the language pack.
Mark, in which locale did you bring up mozilla?
dup of bug 38990 "Date format is not in localized format in the msg view pane"
by way of dup bug 58198 "Header display in mail envelope not using locale"
*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 38990 ***

the locale is NZST according to the date option on the machine
the setting in
/etc/sysconfig/clock is ZONE="Pacific/Auckland"
incidently I am sending this using latest nightly 09/FEB/01 under win 95 and the
date format is correct
