VK-button (http://www.vkbutton.com) is an unofficial illegal plugin for the Firefox browser. According to our datas, it set up about 85 thousand users. The plugin allows users of the biggest Russian social network VK.com (VKontakte.ru) to commit some illegal actions. At least we have a two reasons for block it. - Critical security vulnerabilities. This plugin replaces our internal ads on their banners, placing isn't agreed with us. These banners can lead to malicious sites and facilitate the spread of viruses. - Malicious in nature. The plugin provides easily download music and video from our website, that's strongly forbidden by the rules of the social network and violates copyright. Hello, (In reply to comment #0) > - Critical security vulnerabilities. > This plugin replaces our internal ads on their banners, placing isn't agreed > with us. These banners can lead to malicious sites and facilitate the spread > of viruses. If the add-on itself contains security vulnerabilities we can look into that, or if the add-on's only purpose is adware with no functionality, we could also look into that, but as it sounds like the add-on does provide the user with functionality they want in exchange for advertisements, it's not a valid reason to block the add-on. > - Malicious in nature. > The plugin provides easily download music and video from our website, that's > strongly forbidden by the rules of the social network and violates copyright. > We blocklist malicious add-ons, but malicious in the sense that it attacks the user's computer, personal data, or a website -- not that it violates a website's policy on downloads. While some of what you point out might make us remove it from our website if we host it, we do not block add-ons for reasons like this. Please see our blocklist policy at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Blocklisting If we are hosting the add-on on addons.mozilla.org and you believe your copyright has been infringed, you can follow the DMCA takedown process at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/about/legal.html but, again, this would not be grounds for blocking the add-on from use in Firefox.
