Is this add-on unsafe?
There are plenty of old an not currently compatible add-ons still active. And many not maintained but still compatible add-ons are made compatible by AMO. Why not this one also?
This add-on still works with Thunderbird 11.0
How do people handle long recipients lists other than with such an add-on? I couldn't find another one with that functionality.

The add-on was disabled by the AMO editors. I do not know why.

That's possible, it may also be doing other bad things.

Yes, disabling listing is only generally done if there is something bad with an add-on or the author has requested it.

Moving this to the AMO component and resolving as invalid - The add-on was removed from AMO for an undisclosed reason. You could try asking the AMO editors, but they may not be able to disclose the reasons.

The add-on was most likely automatically disabled: http://blog.mozilla.com/addons/2011/02/17/sandboxed-add-ons-disabled-next-week/

All developers were given several warnings for this. Those who didn't react had their add-ons disabled. I can't give any assessment on the security or quality of the add-on because I haven't reviewed it.
